We carry a range of Giant dual suspension bicycles. There are seven basic models the Yukon, Anthem, Trance, Trance X, Reign, Reign X and the Glory, all of which utilise the Maestro system. The benefits of the Maestro system are that there is no power loss under pedalling (previously a serious disadvantage),and the handling is vastly improved as the rear wheel is kept firmly on the ground under both braking and acceleration, providing maximum braking, acceleration and cornering. The seven models have varying amounts of suspension travel. Basically the short travel bikes are lighter and faster for cross country or recreational riding, whereas the long travel bikes are stronger, heavier and made to absorb high impacts (like jumps or high speed, rough terrain descents).

Giant Anthem X Advanced SL 1 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
Price was $4,999. Now on special at only $3,999! |
The Giant Anthem X Advanced SL1is the ultimate in a fast, cross country dual suspension bike. Previously the Anthem X Limited took pride of place, but this new bike using the advantage of carbon technology surpasses even the Limited. It is the fastest cross country Giant have ever built. Carbon technology enables Giant to alter the characteristics of a frame by altering the type of fabric, the direction it is "layed" and the amount of material used. This means the frame can be refined down to bring about the ultimate in acceleration, strength and weight, according to the anticipated use. It is a ready to race "out of the box" bike, suitable for pro levels. This bike is really fast, if you are looking for an edge, this is it. It provides better traction than a hard tail, yet has a similar weight.
As with all bikes utilizing the Maestro system, pedal bob is virtually eliminated, while still being highly responsive. This system enables a rear suspension bike to climb better than a hard tail due to better traction. The bike simply feels great with the combination of light weight and excellent traction, the climbing ability is amazing. The equipment is full Shimano XT with an XT wheelset.
If you combine the Fox 32 FIT RL 100mm suspension forks and Fox Float RP23 rear suspension with the lightest full suspension frame ever made by Giant. you can imagine it is going to be one of the best bikes available. The bike is not only fast, but very controllable, ideal for single tracks. The frame geometry, combined with the Fox suspension and wide bars inspire confidence through corners, it allows the average rider to attack corners at a greater pace than you could normally manage with confidence.
This bike really makes riding fun! Come and test ride one today. |

Giant Anthem X1 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
Price was $3599. Now just $2,999! |
An affordable cross country race bike. Equipped with Shimano Deore Xt and Fox suspension with an ultra light aluminium frame, this bike is ready to race. Whether you wish to compete in World Cup XC races, weekend epics or simply competing with the mates, this bike is highly competitive and suitable for any cross country riding. Because of the lightweight and remote lock-out, the bike climbs unbelievably well. The Maestro suspension can handle steep climbs with minimum power loss, in fact it can climb more efficiently than a hard tail, due to the better traction. Along fire trails it is supreme. The frame geometry is set up to make the most of fast fire trails, yet it will competently handle deep rutted downhill trails. Read up on some reviews and you will find agreement on the fact that this bike is fantastic value for money, yet highly competitive in any xc racing.
The bike is equipped with Deore XT throughout. The 30 speed XT has such a wide gear range, it can climb virtually any slope you can get traction, yet it has the ability to handle high speed single tracks or fire trails. The UST wheels are resistant to pinch flats and lightweight of course.
Great bike, come and have a look. |
|
Giant Trance X1 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
Price was $3599. Now just $2,999! |
Incredibly light, the Trance X1 comes fitted with Fox suspension front and rear, Shimano Deore Xt equipment and lightweight bars and stem. The list of components reads like a list you would expect on a $5000 bike. And the handling is excellent. The Trance is intended for riding over a wide variety of surfaces, generally not too radical, so the 5" suspension travel is adequate for most of the obstacles you will come across. The climbing ability is excellent the Maestro system allows the bike to climb like a hardtail, maybe even better with the improved traction on the dual suspension bike. Ceratinly there is no indication of pedal induced "bob" while climbing. Both front and rear suspension have a lock out system to improve climbing and road performance if required. |

Giant Anthem X1 29er Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
Price was $3,299. Now just $2,699!
Small and XL only

|
29" Mountain bikes are gaining popularity fast. The Giant Anthem X1 29er is a brilliantly priced 29" dual suspension mountain bike.
While 29ers may appear cumbersome and heavy, the reality is that these bikes, with their larger wheel diameter, can roll over obstacles that a 26" wheel bike would baulk at. The overall feel is that the bike is light and agile, some may even say that there is less need for a dual suspension bike when you have a 29er. Where a 26" wheel bike would be difficult to control over short, sharp undulations, potholes, washouts, etc, the 29" bike can roll straight over the top of much of it. Much easier on the rider (particularly good for us older riders).
The Anthem is a brilliant bike. It has a fluid formed frame that eliminates the need for added gussets. This means a frame that is lighter for a given level of strength. Fluid forming has proven to be very effective. Over the past few years we have had very few problems over vast numbers of frames sold using this technology. Giant are so confident that they are willing to offer a lifetime guarantee, even on their off-road frames. Let’s be honest, if you can buy a bike that is really light, well equipped for the money with one of the best, if not the best suspension system around, and you get a lifetime guarantee with that bike, it must be worth serious consideration at least. Why not come and try one, and see for yourself?
The bike is equipped with Shimano Deore Xt , a 30 speed gear system that works reliably. Not only can this bike handle high speed cross country trails, but it will climb pretty much any slope on which it can gain traction. The gearing is phenomenal. And, as regards traction, the Maestro dual suspension system assists traction to such a degree that it is possible to climb better on a Maestro system dual suspension bike than on a hard-tail.
The wheels are specially built or Giant, double walled, eyeleted, with Swiss DT spokes and rear hub. They should be good reliable wheels, they certainly have the brand names and an emphasis on being rugged. The SRAM Elixir brakes are renowned for good reliable braking. The assembly is light and not only works well, but looks great.
Quite a bike, why not come and try one? |

Giant Trance X2 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
Price was $2,799. Now just $2,199! |
If you read some of the many reviews available the overall view seems to that the Trance X2 is exceptional value for money. It can outperform bikes with a far greater price tag. Why is this? Well for a start the bike rides brilliantly. If you break it down, it may be easier to understand.
The frame is exceptionally light for the money paid. Sure there are lighter frames out there, but you could easily pay double the amount to save a few hundred grams. The Maestro system is very well designed. Read the reports, virtually everyone praises the suspension system. It has the ability to remove the terrain induced irregularities, without adding rider induced movement ("bob"). Effectively this means that if you apply power to the cranks, it can convert more of it to forward motion. A lesser system, that is not as well designed, allows the bike to "bob" up and down (losing power with each movement).
This lightweight frame, with the Maestro system is then fitted with Fox suspension front and rear. Fox 32 F125 RL with 15mm QR axle at the front and Fox Float RP2 with boost valve at the rear. This Fox suspension system has air compression with provision to alter the rebound rate front and rear. The air compression obviously is easily adjusted to suit the weight of the rider, thus achieving the optimum suspension rate without effort.
The equipment is far from race standard, but has been carefully selected to give a good reliable bike at around $3000. The Avid Elixir brakes work very effectively, with a nice progressive action. You will have the confidence of knowing that you can stop under any conditions. The Shimano SLX gear system changes well under pretty much any conditions, they have a wide gear range, with 30 speed, and a press fit bottom bracket. Overall this bike will handle all that most of us can dish out to it. |

Giant Trance X3 2011.
Price was $2,199, now marked down to $1,699! |
Not sure whether you prefer cross country riding or tackling the technical descents, the Trance X3 will give you the option do both. Read the reviews, Giant Anthems and Trance's stack up really well. With a really light, yet stiff frame, the X3's are exceptional value for money.
Sure the equipment level is not up to competition levels or any near it, but nor is the price. For the money you are paying, the bike gives a light, very controllable ride, with an amazing hill climbing ability. The Maestro suspension design makes climbing very efficient, as it effectively "locks out" under acceleration or hill climbing, then operates to the limit of its travel on descents or when backing off. It has been designed to react to impacts coming from the riding surface, not from the pedalling effort (rider input). Another major benefit of the Maestro system is that it remain "live" under braking, increasing the control, as the suspension is unaffected by braking forces.
Although the price point is such, that you might expect to get low quality componentry and a lot of frustration, it is not the case. The suspension has Fox 32 F125 with through axle at the front, with a Fox Float R rear suspension unit. Who would have thought 2 years ago that you would be able to buy a lightweight frame with Fox suspension front and rear for under $2,000. The handling as you would expect is excellent. The Maestro system is renowned for giving excellent performance, then back this with Fox suspension, and Giant have some new development to tweak it even further. The OverDrive headtube simply means a larger bearing surface area, over a larger diameter, giving a much stiffer (read more controllable) front end, together with press fit bottom bracket assembly. This is all stuff that you might expect in a $3,000- $4,000 bike, but definitely not at under $2,000. Incidentally Giant have managed to trim another 100 grams off last years Trance, I don't know how!
The gears and brakes are lower standard, but still work well for a recreational rider. The derailleurs are Deore and SLX, with Deore crank-set. All work well, then the bike is fitted up with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, with a 7" front rotor and 6" rear. The Giant Connect bars, stem and seat pillar are all strong and quite light. The wheels are Giant double wall rims on disc brake hubs, with 14/15g spokes. Even the tyres are good quality, it is fitted with Kenda Nevegal tyres (Stick-E front and DTC rear). The saddle is a Fi'z:ik Gobi XM with manganese rails. Not a bit of junk anywhere!
With a super light ALUXX SL aluminium frame with 5 inches of Maestro rear suspension, this bike will not only give you the confidence to conquer technical descents, but also tackle steep climbs with ease. Ride more trails and ride them faster!!! With a Shimano drive train, Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes, Fox shocks front and rear and Mavic rims, this beast is hard to beat! |

Giant Anthem XW 2011.
Price was $2,199, now just $1,699! |
The Anthem XW is a performance women-specific mountain bike with frame geometry catering to female dimensions along with shorter bars and head stem and women's saddle.
This bike is built especially for the mountain bike rider who gets a gleam in her eye when she sees steep, rocky trails with lots of loose gravel, fallen trees and mud. With this bike you can traverse even the most technically difficult terrain and still maintain some semblance of control (obviously depending on your skill level). If you want to be able to take on the challenge you need a bike that can take what you dish out to it. With the Maestro suspension both the rapid vibrations and those bone-jarring impacts will be absorbed. The suspension is independent of both pedalling and braking so you will not lose pedalling force through suspension compression or lose braking control.
