Dirt jumping BMX's (Bicycle Moto Cross) are generally a beefier bicycle with a more strongly constructed frame (read heavier) than a street BMX. Other components like the cranks and pedals also require a lot more strength than a bike which stays on the ground. So if you want fast and light don't look at the dirt jumping (or freestyle) bikes but rather consider the street bikes (Mach Ones or the Race bikes). Please bear in mind that if you live in a flat area, the added weight is not really going to be a problem. GT and Mongoose are our most popular brands.

The GT Bump has a cro moly frame and is a mid-level bike in the GT dirt/street line of BMXs. This is a BMX designed to keep its feel no matter what terrain. The dirt/street handlebars that come stock on the GT Bump are Pro size, to give good control. The Kenda K-Rad 2.125" front tire and Kenda KoRolla 2.1" rear tire help in this cause, as they are made to withstand rough tracks. The wheels have a 14mm axle at the rear with 36 spokes, and the front wheel is lighter with 3/8" axle and 32 spokes. The hubs are GT with Alienation PBR rims. So the wheels are pretty tough. The GT Bump also comes equipped with pedals and cranks designed for jumping. The cranks have 8 splined cro moly axles with mid-size bearings. The pedals are GT dirt/street design, made of alloy with cro moly axles which are designed to perform safely under tough conditions. |
