Ladies Giant Road Bikes

2012 Giant Tcr Advanced W

Price was $3,499, now $2,999!

Giant Tcr Advanced W. 2012.

Giant has again created more value for the woman searching for a high end carbon road bike capable of being a weekend warrior and a race winner. The TCR Advanced W for 2012 delivers unparalleled performance in the women's road bike market, with the incredibly light and stiff Advanced composite frame making exploding out of the blocks or up the hills a breeze. Couple with this Giant's new Overdrive 2 steerer, making for as much as 30% more efficiency in front end stiffness, and you have a bike capable of seeing you ahead of the rest.

As to be expected, the 'W' means the bike is made for women, and Giant have once again succeeded in creating a bike that is instantly more comfortable and desirable for the female roadie. The shorter top tube and longer steerer tube make the handlebars higher and closer, meaning there is no reaching and straining for the levers, while making the drops instantly accessible when the opportunity to sprint arises. As always a female saddle, handlebars and headstem only add to the comfort, and the new colour scheme is striking and attractive, making it certain to turn heads.

Lastly, in a break from tradition, Giant have teamed with Sram to equip this bike with the Sram Force Groupset, a clear contender with Shimano Ultegra for the mantle of gearing and braking performance with a reasonable price tag.

Key features like the Dual Pivot brake system (for sharp and responsive braking) and Double Tap levers (a new way of shifting meaning your gear shifts are all controlled by tapping the lever either a short or long distance to change), make Sram Force the ideal choice for the TCR Advanced W, a bike built around comfort, speed, efficiency and high functionality.

2012 Giant Avail Advanced 2

Price was $2,999, but now just $2,499!

Giant Avail Advanced 2. 2012.

Building upon the highly successful Avail Advanced 2 from 2011, this new model takes performance to another level with the brand new lightweight Giant P-SL1 wheels and an upgrade to the Shimano Ultegra 10 speed gearing system. Most impressive is that these significant improvements have only meant a $400 increase in the retail price from last year, meaning women looking for a light, fast, yet comfortable road bike can get much more bike for not much more money.

As with all the Giant Avail models, the key attraction for most women is the female specific geometry and features making for a more comfortable, tailored riding experience. The shorter top tube length, coupled with the narrow handlebars and shortened head stem mean the bike feels like it has been professionally fitted to you from the start. There is no straining for the brake/gear levers, nor any of the associated neck and shoulder pain from having handlebars as much as 40mm too wide for you.

Add to this the ergonomically designed female saddle, with a grooved center to ensure only your sitting bones are taking the pressure, and gel padded handlebar tape to keep your hands cushioned from start to finish and you are looking at a bike designed by women for women.

The Shimano Ultegra 10 Speed gear and brake system draws upon Dura Ace technology (Shimano's pinnacle of gear and brake performance) to ensure crisp gear changes, sharp braking and longevity and reliability unmatched by other bikes in the price range.

Our only recommendation is that you come down as fast as possible to test ride this beautiful machine, as they are sure to sell out quickly as always!

Giant TCR Advanced W 2011.

Price was $3,299. Now on special at only $2,499!TCR Advanced W 2011

The surge in popularity of road riding over recent years hasn’t in any way been restricted to male cyclists. In fact women have become such a large part of the road market that other companies have started to follow Giants example by introducing female specific bikes into their range. Giant themselves have a lineup of 4 models headed by the awesome TCR Advanced W which is as serious a road bike as all but the professional or extremely well heeled would require. Equipped with the latest Shimano Ultegra ensemble and a DT wheelset the Advanced W is ready to race “straight out of the box”.

Fitted with Giants usual array of female specific components including handlebars, headstem, adjustable brake levers, crank length and saddle the Advanced W is a lightweight rocket, that offers an extraordinarily comfortable ride thanks to these features and the Advanced technology frame.

It’s hard not to be impressed by the bike and by Giants decision to offer ladies a viable serious option when considering a race bike.

2012 Giant Avail Composite 3

Price was $1,699, but now just $1,499!

Giant Avail Composite 3. 2012.

The Giant Avail Composite 3 represents a new entrant into the women's road bike fray for 2012. It is however, built on the success of the Giant composite models of 2011, where the use of a different grade of carbon has allowed Giant to create a full carbon road bike that positions itself very comfortably under the $2000 mark, a feat previously unheard of in the bike market.

This translates to a road bike that is more comfortable and forgiving than its alloy counterparts, due to the inherent shock absorbing properties of the carbon materials used in constuction. When compared to the more expensive Avail Advanced there is a small compromise in performance, however this will go unnoticed by many simply seeking a lighter faster road bike on which to ride recreationally. The Avail Composite 3 as expected features all Shimano 10 speed Tiagra gearing and brakes, giving the rider performance and reliability without an exorbitant price tag. Add to this the lightweight handlebar and headstem, as well as a carbon fibre seatpost, and you will find yourself on a bike that people will be expecting you to have paid thousands for.

Lastly, the specific features that make the Avail range of bikes so unique must be mentioned. Firstly, the geometry is tailored specifically for women with the narrow handlebars, shorter headstem and top tube combining to produce a ride a woman is simply incapable of achieving on most unisex models. Add to this the Giant Performance Women’s Saddle, a perfect antidote for those long rides where numbness and pain would normally be a feature, as well as the gel padded handlebar tape meaning your hands are cushioned from start to finish.

Giant Avail 1 2012 Ladies Road Bike

Price was $1,499, but now only $1,299!

Giant Avail 1 2012 Ladies Road Bike

The 2012 Avail 1 from Giant is built specifically for women, available in 3 sizes from extra small through to medium, a size range that will suit ladies from 5’ (150cm) through to 5’11” (180cm).

The Avail 1 is constructed from a lightweight aluminium and is fitted with carbon fibre forks and a host of quality components from Shimano . A great bike aimed at the recreational rider who may be trading up from their first road bike or who have an older bike and just want something more modern with easier to use gears and brakes. The Avail 1 would also be a great race bike for a junior rider with its specifications so well suited to someone of a smaller stature.
Female specific bikes.

Some years ago Giant took what was at the time an unprecedented step of introducing to the market a range of bikes designed specifically for women. Not just a bike painted a pretty pink or purple, but a womens road bike actually built with the female anatomy as its criteria. Given the normal variations in height, build and other body dimensions, Giants engineers and designers have come up with vital features for their female specific models, including the 2011 Avail 3.

These points are:

A shorter top tube, shorter headstem and short reach handlebars to allow easy reach and control while the handlebars are also narrower than those found on regular road bikes, allowing for the generally narrower shoulder width of most women.

The bars also feature a shallower drop which once again nicely accommodates smaller hands while also lessening lower back strain due to the rider not having to bend so far when the hands are “on the drops”.
Short reach brake levers are also fitted, so ladies with smaller hands can still comfortably operate the vital brake and gear lever controls.
The crank length is also shorter on the 43 and 46cm models to better suit the leg length of those ladies in the height range up to 175cm.
Finally, a saddle designed specifically for the female form, to ensure the rider not only fits the bike well but is comfortable while doing so.

Taller ladies will easily find one of Giants other models that fit, but for the height and build of the greater number of ladies, the female specific models are a blessing and in many cases are the only real way to safely and comfortably get on a road

Giant Cross City 2W 2012

Price is $1099

Giant Cross City 2W 2012

The Giant Cross City 2 replaces last years Giant Crx 2w. Both are brilliant bikes. The frames are very lightweight, the gears easy to use, and the comfort is excellent.

This is a difficult thing to achieve. Most comfortable bikes are quite heavy, lightweight bikes are generally less comfortable, and to put the 2 things together is usually expensive. The Giant Crx 2 sold incredibly well, probably surprising most people. It seemed to manage to achieve just the right combination of comfort and lightweight at a relatively low price ($1149). This years Cross City 2 looks better, is more comfortable, has the same equipment and is priced at only $1099.

This bike has a lightweight aluminium frame. Made from ALUXX SL it looks similar to the Cross City 4, but actually has a lighter frame. This frame is then fitted with composite forks to reduce road shock, as well as the suspension seat pillar to reduce the force of the bumps before they reach your bottom. The saddle is one of the improvements over the CRX 2. The overall customer response is excellent. We rarely get asked to change this saddle. It has a relatively narrow profile to prevent chafing and allow a more stretched out riding position if desired, but if you prefer to sit quite upright, it has deep gel cushioning on a carfully designed base to accomodate this. This saddle then sits on an adjustable suspension seat pillar to absorb the larger bumps.

Because it is adjustable, it can be set up to optimise the ride for individual riders (according to their weight, and riding preferences)

The Tektro "V" brakes make for the very reliable braking that is very common on Giant bikes. With Shimano Tiagra/Sora gears, you know that you can rely on the gear system to be simple to operate, and change gear under a wide range of riding conditions, and not to fail you at the most crucial moments.

The Shimano R500 wheels are zippy but still very sturdy. It is THE most lightweight and speedy ladies flat bar road bike you will find in our store - and it's only $1099

Giant Avail 3 Womens Road Bike 2012

Price was $999, but no $899!

Giant Avail 3 Womens Road Bike 2012

The 2012 Giant Avail 3 is guaranteed to be one of the most popular bikes in this years range. The Avail 3 ticks most of the boxes for many ladies. Built specifically for women the Avail 3 is priced at an encouragingly low price, to assist many new road riders into this increasingly popular form of cycling.

Built from a lightweight aluminium with carbon fibre front forks the Avail3 frame is a sophisticated platform to which has been assembled a range of efficient, reliable and yet economical components. Shimano components are used extensively including the entire drive train which features 27 speed gears. This may sound daunting to the newcomer, but their ease of operation and the ease their use brings to cycling will benefit both experienced and beginner riders alike. Available in extra small, small and medium sizes the Avail 3 will suit riders from around 150cm right up to 180cm, which may also include junior riders of either gender.

Some years ago Giant took what was at the time an unprecedented step of introducing to the market a range of bikes designed specifically for women. Not just a bike painted a pretty pink or purple, but a womens road bike actually built with the female anatomy as its criteria. Given the normal variations in height, build and other body dimensions Giants engineers and designers have come up with 5 key features for their female specific models, including the 2011 Avail 3.

These five points are a shorter headstem and short reach handlebars to allow easy reach and control while the handlebars are also narrower than those found on regular road bikes allowing for the generally narrower shoulder width of most women. The bars also feature a shallower drop which once again nicely accommodates smaller hands while also lessening lower back strain due to the rider not having to bend so far when the hands are “on the drops”. The Tektro "V" brakes make for very reliable braking that is very common on Giant bikes. With Shimano Tiagra/Sora gears, you know that you can rely on the gear system not to fail you at the most crucial moments and the Shimano R500 wheels are zippy but still very sturdy. Price is $599!

2012 Giant Cross City 4 Womens Flat Bar Road Bike

Alright ladies, let me explain why you should buy this bike. As you probably understand, flat bar road bikes are designed to be lightweight, speedy and still maintain their comfort.

This particular flat bar road bike in the 2011 Giant range, is the cheapest one of these you will find, but don't make the mistake of dismissing it because of that, hear me out on the features...

First, the bike has an ALUXX Alloy Fluid Formed frame which makes the bike very light and rigid (which means your steering is more accurate, the bike transfers power more efiiciently and therefore is easier to pedal).

Second, the bike has a comy seat, made with gel cushioning, shaped to prevent chafing, then covered in soft luxurious fabric. This saddle is capable of absorbing minor vibrations and the movement of your body, then it is mounted on a suspension seat pillar which takes care of all the larger impacts, such as hitting a rut in the road or path. This supension can be adjusted according to your weight, for the maximum comfort.. The end result is a saddle combination, which most women find excellent.

Third, the Shimano 2300/Altus gear system, although a lower-end system, still maintains Shimano's reputation for very reliable bike components. The gears are a simple push button system and are quite easy to use. If you haven't used gears before or are a bit daunted by a bike with so many, don't be shy to tell the shop assistant, and they will explain the operation in easy to understand terms. The Tektro "V" brakes are reliable and won't fail you if you happen to find yourself in a jam.

Alright, ladies, let me explain why you should buy this bike.

As you probably understand, flat bar road bikes are designed to be lightweight, speedy and still maintain their comfortableness. This particular flat bar road bike in the 2011 Giant range, is the cheapest one of these you will find, but don't make the mistake of dismissing it because of that, hear me out on the features...

First, the bike has an ALUXX Alloy FluidFormed frame which makes the bike very light and rigid (which means your steering is more accurate). The tapered forks (see that they are leaning at quite a slant compared to the Ladies Cross City 2W), they provide a longer wheel base (from one centre of the wheel to the next) which means that the bike itself absorbs a lot of the shock that can come up through the frame. The bike has suspension in the seat pillar which adds to the protection of your "toosh".

Secondly, the Shimano 2300/Altus gear system, although a lower-end system, still maintains Shimano's reputation for very reliable bike components.  The Tektro "V" brakes are reliable and won't fail you in those dire moments. And the bike has a Selle Royal Gel Saddle for comfort.
