Argon 18 Krypton SRAM Road Bike
$3,499.00. Sold out, but available by special order. |
The Krypton frame is a monocoque carbon fibre, which is built to the high standards all Argon 18's are renowned for. Equipped here with a Sram Rival groupset, the result is a seriously competitive bike that will be as equally at home in the heat of competition or on some of the more serious recreational rides such as the Audax Alpine Classic, Around the Bay in a Day, or even one of the Alltrails events, traversing Australia.
Canadian Olympic cyclist Gervais Rioux bought a Montreal bike shop toward the end of his racing career in the late 1980's, choosing to put his vision of cycling to work in serving his customers. Thanks to this vision, the shop became the eastern Canadian authority in all matters to do with road cycling and bike fit. Alongside regular retail sales and service, Rioux developed his own bike brand, the Argon 18, which began attracting increasing attention everywhere in Canada, for its impeccable handling, quality fabrication and refined, detailed finish. In the following years Canadian teams and riders competing around the world unintentionally began to let the greater cycling community know of this Canadian secret. In recent years, the secret is no more, with Argon 18 bikes being available worldwide.
The Krypton is a great looking bike with a full carbon frameset. It absorbs vibration making it highly comfortable and luxurious. But whilst it is not the lightest bike on the market, the ride comfort combined with great aerodynamics, stability and accurate steering, the Krypton is a bike that a lot of triathletes prefer.
Just as the frame brand isn't the most well known, neither is the SRAM groupset, but much publicity and use by professional teams in recent times has seen this anonymity begin to fade. A great looking bike that rides as well as many others in a higher price range, the Krypton won't disappoint. |
